In July 2019, experts from the
Finland-China Education Association (FICEA) once again visited Wanhui Education
Group. Dr. Dong Li, the Vice-Chairman and Secretary-General of the FICEA, Dr.
Martti, Senior Curriculum Development Consultant, Ms. Marita and Ms. Kellers,
Finnish Education Experts, and other experts gathered in Wanhui and brought an
educational feast on higher-order thinking courses and Finnish phenomenon-based
teaching.
The training theme is “phenomenon-based learning”, and the form of activities includes lectures, latest educational research, expert guidance, project workshops, exquisite lesson demonstration, seminars, and expert comments. The Finnish experts led the Wanhui teachers to fully understand and master the essence of phenomenon-based learning from theory to practice. Under the guidance, teachers participated in a seminar of teaching in various grades and disciplinaries, exerted their subjective initiative, and gradually formed the teaching implementation plan of the “Finnish Phenomenon-based Learning Week” with its own characteristics for each grade. Wanhui’s first Finnish Week event was officially launched at the beginning of September.
The innovative teaching methods have inspired Wanhui’s teachers on their teaching methods and concepts. The students’ observation, expression, and initiative during the activity week also brought great surprises to the Wanhui teachers and Finnish experts, which also brings encouragement and confidence to the Wanhui teachers for future teaching.
