On October 14, 2019, the Finland-China Education Association (FICEA) returned to the Wuyi Primary School in Haidian District, Beijing, to carry out the seventh teacher training program for a week. More than 100 principals and teachers from Wuyi Primary School, the training class of the Chinese Academy of Educational Sciences, and the friendship schools across the country came to observe and learn the advanced teaching methods and instructional designs developed by FICEA through long-term educational research and development.
Teachers from Wuyi Primary School and the Finnish education experts expressed their understanding of teaching concepts and presented different teaching methods for the same class. After the self-reflection by Finnish experts and Chinese teachers, Dr. Dong Li, Vice Chairman and Secretary-General of FICEA, provided comprehensive analysis and professional comments on the lesson demonstration based on the national conditions of China and Finland, the Wuyi Primary School, and the students’ background.
The principals and teachers participated in
the group discussion and gained a deeper understanding of interdisciplinary learning. Afterwards the principals and teachers observed and discussed the multidisciplinary teaching in Wuyi Primary School. Finnish experts pointed out that the instructional design should lead students to ask “real questions” that interest them and are worthy of study. Real questions stem from doubt and discovery, real research can only be carried out based on real questions.
Therefore, it is very meaningful for the future development of students to raise real questions.
