From April 14th
to 15th, 2019, the “Finnish Education in China” organized by the
Finland-China Education Association (FICEA) was held in Chongqing Shuren
Primary School with the first two-day in-depth teachers’ training. Dr. Dong Li,
Vice-Chairman and Secretary-General of the FICEA, Dr. Matti, well-known Finnish
science education expert, Anna, author of the Finnish national English course textbook,
Katja, principal of a Finnish primary school in Finland, and Minna, expert-editor
of Finnish national curriculum coursebook of English subject, had in-depth
communication with the teachers of Shuren Primary School.
After the lesson demonstration and the subject research report by the Shuren Primary School, Dr. Dong Li guided the teachers to consider and reflect on the improvement of curriculum teaching skills, the implementation of multi-disciplinary instruction, and the promotion of students’ application of knowledge and practice of skills. Dr. Matti delivered an excellent creative science lesson developed by FICEA with the students, in which students actively participated in the observation and problem-solving process. The students are courageous to design and launch the paper tube rocket by themselves. The relaxed and active learning atmosphere and the high teaching efficiency inspired the attending teachers to understand the student-centered learning.
After the lesson demonstration, Finnish education experts and Chinese teachers gathered to brainstorm around the reform of teaching methods. Experts further gave professional and meticulous suggestions and solutions about the daily teaching problems raised by Chongqing Shuren Primary School teachers.
