With the arrival
of the refreshing summer, the annual serial activity of the “Finland Education
in China” organized by the Finland-China Education Association (FICEA) was held
in Shuren Primary School to carry out the second one-week-long teacher training
program.
This training mainly focused on “phenomenon-based teaching”. Through education-themed speeches, exquisite Finnish course demonstrations, interdisciplinary and cross-grade seminars, expert guidance, instructional design demonstration, expert comments, etc., the participating teachers developed a comprehensive understanding of phenomenon-based teaching. Simultaneously, through the elicit course demonstration and project seminar guidance by the Finnish experts, the teachers learned about the successful practical experience of Finnish phenomenon-based teaching and further reflected on the localization of the strength of international education in the local school’s curriculum and classroom teaching. Such localization should realize the integration of the multiple disciplinaries and the connections with students’ daily lives, which improves the practical, situational, inquiring, and innovative nature of the classroom teaching. Therefore, it cultivates students’ capacities and skills to solve the problem with multi-disciplinary knowledge.
“Finnish Education in China” is an annual serial activity organized by FICEA. The educational experts from FICEA visit China to share, communicate, explore and cooperate with Chinese educators about the educational issues, development and improvement. The goal is to facilitate educators from the two countries to learn from each other and share the scientific research, the new educational concepts, or teaching models, which further promote resources exchange and joint development.
