On November 2, 2019, Dr. Dong Li, Vice Chairman and Secretary-General of the Finland-China Education Association (FICEA), led a team of Finnish experts to Chongqing Shuren Education Group to provide a teacher training program and bring the advanced concept of “phenomenon-based teaching” to the teachers.
The Finnish expert team provided education-themed speeches, teaching demonstrations, theme lectures, and guidance on project design, thematic discussions, and other activities. Through the training activities, teachers have a deeper and more direct understanding of the integration of Sino-Finnish education and how to put it into practices. Finnish experts also observed the classroom teaching of kindergartens and primary schools in Shuren Education Group and gave lectures on “early childhood education”, “children’s reading literacy training” and “mathematics learning and support for early education”. Constructive suggestions are also provided on the implementation of project-based teaching and the regulation of children’s emotions.
At the end of the training, the teachers in the phenomenon-based learning project reported the project design. After listening to the report, to further ensure the feasibility of the design project, the Finnish experts made comprehensive, professional, and meticulous comments on the improvement based on the Chinese national conditions and the specific academic conditions of Shuren Primary School. The school is encouraged to independently develop and design courses with school-based characteristics to realize the localization of national education and international education.
