In September 2014, a training program for the principals and teachers from Chinese Non-governmental Schools was held in Finland by Finland-China Education Association and the Professional Committee of Primary and Secondary Schools of Chinese Non-government Education Association. The program was a great success and supported by the Finnish Parliament, the Chinese Embassy in Finland and the city of Tampere.
The program kicked off at the Finnish Parliament in the company of Mr. Arto Satonen, a member of the parliament and a senior advisor of FICEA, Mr. Shiguang Wu, the Cultural Counsellor of the Chinese Embassy in Finland and educational experts from Finnish Ministry of Education and national board of education. During the first day’s seminar, the key topics were “Finnish education system and its reform and innovations”, “the progression of school systems in Finland” and “the basic education in Finland”. In the seminar, Mr. Zengyi Zheng made a keynote speech about the situation and future of Chinese basic education and the non-governmental education.
In the next few days of the training, FICEA arranged the visits and meetings with local school principals and held seminars with Finnish education experts. The principals from China got a thorough understanding of Finnish education and its core values through these activities. They told that government supports all levels of education in almost every aspect and the whole society respects teachers and educators. In schools, principals and teachers are hardworking and responsible and especially teachers are also innovative with their teaching methods. They are executing “learning by doing” together with the students and bringing joy to education.
As the principals absorbed deeper knowledge about Finnish education, they all felt shocked about the differences between China and Finland. They also said that they had learnt from the Finnish school management, and will combine this new knowledge with their own school management.
The principal training program is organized in cooperation with Nedu Group Oy and Shijingmingde Education Technology Co., Ltd..
