FICEA serial training program of "Finland Education in China" - Xiejiawan Primary School's 8th Finland Week Seminar

From October 28th to November 1st, 2019, Finland-China Education Association (FICEA) once again came to Xiejiawan Primary School to carry out the 8th Finland Week seminar. The three main themes of this seminar are “Implementing Morality Education, Developing Quality of Education”, “Revolving Learning Methods Reform, Focusing on Normal Classroom Teaching”, and “Gathering Educational Wisdom in China, Finland, and Singapore, Building a Learning and Research Community”. More than 4000 people participated in the seminar, including educators from Finland, Singapore, member schools of Xiejiawan Primary Education Group, friendship schools across China, primary schools in Jiulongpo District, and Xiejiawan Primary School.

Dr. Dong Li, Vice Chairman and Secretary-General of FICEA, led a team of experts to comment on total 19 on-site lessons from teaching concepts to strategies and methods and provide suggestions for further improvement. The Finnish curriculum design experts Dr. Matti, Marko, and Joona respectively taught science lesson “Food Chain and Food Web”, mathematical and sports integrated lesson “Throwing and Measurement”, and information technology lesson “Network Security”. Through simulated situation and practice experience, role playing, and subject integration, students are guided to learn how to observe, experience, and understand the importance of environmental protection and the harmonious coexistence of human being and nature. The expert team also brought theme speech on Finland’s new curriculum reforms, future schools, and future innovative teaching methods to enhance teachers’ understanding of the world, the comprehension of the development of 21st century and the understanding of education.

The teachers saw different educational ideas and methods around the world and had a new exploration of education through the one-week training seminar, in which they listen to education-theme speech and presentations from 3 countries, 12 schools, 19 classes and 4 lectures. The training brought a deep reflection on the multi-disciplinary, multi-country, and cross-field teaching.
